Light and Noise
햇살 좋은 일요일 오후의 여의도공원은 나들이 나온 가족들과 연인들로 붐볐습니다. 배드민턴과 캐치볼을 하며 분주히 움직이는 사람들, 돗자리에 몸을 뉘인 사람들, 천천히 걸어다니는 사람들 사이에서 우리는 짐을 풀었고, 아이들 몇이 관심을 보이며 드러머 수진 곁으로 다가왔습니다. 공원이라서일까요, 요 어린 것들이 별로 수줍어하지 않더군요. 캠코더를 손에 들고 우리를 촬영하기까지 하는 한 미디어 꿈나무를 보며 잠시 밥줄의 위기감을 느끼던 중, 불벅이 높은 곳에 올라가서 이목을 집중시켰습니다. 옆에서 낮잠을 자던 두 연인은 느닷없는 악기 연주에 놀랐는지 다소 멍한 표정으로 이쪽을 보다 다시 잠을 청했습니다(깨워서 미안해요). 그러긴 했어도 빛과소음은 레코딩보다 다소 부드럽게, 연주를 해나갔습니다.
Yeouido Park on a sunny Sunday afternoon was slightly crowded by families and lovers. We were among folks playing badminton and catchball, lying on mats, and strolling about. Some kids showed interest and approached Sujin, busy setting up her snare and cymbal; our tiny camera couldn't intimidate them in this relaxing atmosphere. Ah, little kids, pointing their tiny camcorders at us, won't they take our jobs in the future... Our contemplation was interrupted as Bulberg suddenly started climbing a tree. A couple whose nap was definitely disturbed by our sounds gave us a blank stare, and then went on with their nap(sorry guys). Nevertheless Light and Noise started playing a softer, acoustic version of their music.
사실 여의도에서 가고 싶은 곳이 하나 더 있었는데, 바로 MBC 총파업 농성장입니다. 요새는 비중있는 이슈 대접도 못 받는 이 일을 영상에 남기고 싶다는 생각이었지요. 하지만 일요일이라서 그런지 아무도 농성을 하고 있지 않더라구요... 헛헛하여 빌딩숲 사이를 돌아다니던 차에 여의도역 쪽으로 가는 길이 눈에 확 들어왔습니다. 앰프 때문에 앉아 있어야 하는 꿀버섯을 향해 나머지가 걸어가면서 연주를 해보자고 그 자리에서 결정이 났습니다. 길 복판에서 노래를 부르는 불벅 옆으로 사뭇 다른 표정의 수진과 승현이 나란히 걸어가고 있노라니 각 빌딩의 경비원들이 수상한 눈초리를 보냈습니다. 차들과 여의도역으로 향하는 행인들이 주위를 스쳤고, 심한 일교차에 바람은 어느새 서늘해져 있었습니다.
The park, the grass, all the people and the kids were not actually the sole purpose of us visiting Yeouido. With all the recent accidents, the MBC union strike is quickly losing media attention; we wanted to include it in one of our videos. But little did we know that nobody was at the strike spot that day, damn you weekend... We wandered lost between the buildings, when this street caught our eyes. Soon the band decided to play while walking towards Coolbursut, seated with his amp. Sujin, Seunghyun and Bulberg singing in between, all three rambling down the city street, drew quite some suspicious look from security guards around. Cars noised around and people headed to Yeouido station; already the wind had got chilly.
